Sharing My Passions With Others

My name is Rebecca Broadbent and I am passionate about maps! While growing up, my family took many road trips and I learned at a young age to follow our route on a map. I started collecting maps and atlases, and have spent many hours poring over them.

I graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Geography. I completed my GIS Level 1 and II Certificates at Austin Community College.  I am currently working as a GIS Specialist and Assistant Developer at Structure Development.

I am also passionate about family history!  I have been actively researching my own family history for over 15 years.  I have served as a board member in the local genealogical society for more than 12 years. I served as the Director of the local Family History Center for 6 years, and have been doing genealogical research for others since 2007.  I have attended numerous genealogical events (as both attendee and presenter), and have also been involved in the planning of several events.

My hobbies include spending time with my family, doing genealogy research, making maps, playing games, and traveling. My favorite places to travel include national parks  and historic sites. As a life-long learner, I am always on the lookout for the next book to read, the next conference to attend, or the next class in which to enroll.

I started Mapping Your World because I love to create maps, and I want share my love of maps with others.
